Wee Theng Tan is Vice President of Corporate
Affairs Group for Intel Corporation and President of Intel China.
Effective January 1, 2007, China became an independent region,
reporting directly to Intel corporate headquarters in Santa Clara,
California. China formerly was part of Intel'
s Asia Pacific region.
Following these changes in the PRC region, Wee Theng Tan assumes
management responsibility for the new consolidated corporate affairs
function in China. WT will continue to serve as Chair of the China
Steering Council but will also manage the China Corporate Business
Development unit and government-related technology programs within
China.
Mr. Tan joined Intel as Asean Country Manager in 1990, responsible
for sales and marketing distribution in Singapore and the emerging
markets of South East Asia. He then moved to the company'
s regional
headquarter Hong Kong in 1992, where he held the position of Director
of Business Operations and was responsible for regional customer
marketing, planning, IT and regional distribution marketing functions.
In 1994, he assumed additional responsibility for managing the
company'
s Asia Pacific Semiconductor Product Group'
s sales and
marketing activities on top of his business operation role.
Since August 1, 1996, Mr. Tan moved to become Chief Operating
Officer and Managing Director for Intel China, with sales, marketing,
and Intel Architecture Lab activities reporting to him. In 1998,
Mr. Tan became the Managing Director for Intel North Asia, responsible
for Intel'
s sales and marketing in North Asia.
During this period, Wee Theng successfully drove a major expansion
of Intel operations in these key countries, particular in PRC
and Korea.
Prior to joining Intel, Mr. Tan has held various senior positions
in industry relations, and sales and marketing. In the technology
area, Mr. Tan was with IBM for 11 years, and held marketing and
product management positions in Singapore, Hong Kong and the USA.
Mr. Tan graduated from The University of Singapore in 1975, with
a degree in Economics. |
