Intel continues to lead the industry in silicon advancement, being the first to introduce strained silicon technology on 90nm and now the first to introduce high-k/metal gate transistors on 45nm. Intel Senior Fellow Mark Bohr will provide a technical view into these stellar achievements. Intel has a silicon research and technology pipeline that will continue to produce a new process technology every two years, in accordance with Moore's Law. Mark will describe how transistor scaling has changed and some of the technologies being explored for future advancement.

Geoffrey Lowney, Intel Fellow, China Fellow in Residence, and Director of Compiler and Architecture Advanced Development, will provide a technical talk on gaining maximum performance through the profiling and tuning of software. In this era of dual and quad core microprocessors it becomes critical to adapt your software to achieve maximum performance. Intel provides a suite of compilers and tools to enable developers to tune their code efficiently and effectively, without dramatically increasing development costs. Geoffrey will be providing a detailed look into the Intel software performance tuning technology.


 

Introduction of the Energy Efficient Performance Forum

"High Efficiency" and "Energy Efficiency", together, have become hot topics for the government and the industry. Especially for the fast-growing IT industry, they have become even more important tasks. With the purpose of strengthening multi-party interaction among the government, industry, and users, as well as promoting industry consensus on this topic, Intel will be holding the Energy Efficient Performance (EEP) Forum during the Intel Development Forum (IDF).

Along with experts from Intel, Huawei and environmental research organizations, Mr. Jin Yuzhong, chairman of China Computer World, will host a panel discussion to talk about "High Efficiency", "Energy Efficiency", environmental protection, as well as related IT technologies and applications. Experts from related research organizations will offer their expert opinions on the current situation and trends within the industry and discuss the latest international trends and developments, as well as share some successful practices. Justin, CTO of Intel, and Su Liqing,Vice President of Huawei, will introduce how their respective companies have realized "Energy Efficiency" and "High Efficiency" by applying innovative technologies, in response to government initiatives for an energy efficient society.
